Matt (マット Matto), real name is Mail Jeevas is a cohort of Mello. He mostly does espionage work for Mello and was involved with the kidnapping of Takada. Apart from this not much else is know about Matt, other than he was once a resident at Wammy's House. Whilst working under Mello, he also spied on Misa Amane and followed her movements.

Matt being shot by the 13 guards protecting Takada

Hidden inside the back of his jumper is a gun which, after the confrontation with 13 of the guards protecting Takada, was shot 13 times by the surrounding guards trying to reach for it. It is later broad casted on TV which Mello then sees and apologises for getting Matt killed. Matt appeared in a total of 18 panels throughout the manga and had an even smaller part within the anime. Appearing in a cameo role in episode 32 and a speaking role in episode 35. Despite being such a minor character, he has gained a rather large fan base by avid Death Note fans.
