Light Yagami (夜神 月, Yagami Raito) is the protagonist and antagonist of the Death Note Anime and Manga Series. He has a hatred for all criminals and, upon stumbling across the Death Note at the start of the series, he uses it to exterminate each and every one of them. Soon an alias is formed which the people of Japan are all accustomed to, he calls himself "Kira". ("Kira" is derived from the English/Japanese pronunciation of "Killer"). Light Yamagami is known as a bright and intelligent person but always seems to be bored, because of his high IQ he has become confident in his logic and how intelligent he is in comparison to others around him. His sense of "Justice" and hatred of Criminals derives from his strong beliefs about the Injustice in the world, believing that the world is nothing but dirty and rotten. He desires the means to exterminate all the evil in the world which come from his warped desire to become God-Like; and thus wanders upon the Death Note "Tossed" down by the Shinigami Ryuk from the Shinigami Realm.
